The Irish Journal of Anaesthesia was established in 2017 by Dr Ahmed Abdelaal Ahmed Mahmoud M Alkhatip, Associate Professor of Anaesthesia at Beni Suef University and who worked as Senior Registrar of Anaesthesia and as a Research Fellow in Adelaide and Meath incorporating National Children's Hospital (AMNCH), Currently known as Tallaght University Hospital. The Irish Journal of Anaesthesia is considered the first specialized Irish Journal in the field of Anaesthesia, Critical Care Medicine and Pain Medicine. Dr Maria Donnelly, Consultant of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, Dr Patrick Conroy, Consultant of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care and Dr Andrew Purcell, Specialist Registrar of Anaesthesia, contributed to the establishment of the Irish Journal of Anaesthesia.
